Pastor Samuel Kajoba Elected as New Leader of SDA Church in Uganda

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda has a new leader. Pastor Samuel Kajoba has been elected as president, succeeding Pastor Moses Makka.

The elections were conducted at the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s regional headquarters in Nairobi. Delegates from across the East and Central Africa Division, which brings together several countries in the region, gathered to vote on new leadership. Uganda was represented by church officials and delegates who participated in the decision-making process.

Pastor Kajoba has been serving as president of the Central Uganda Conference, one of the largest and most active units of the church in the country. His experience in church leadership and administration played a key role in his selection. Delegates described him as a pastor with a strong record in evangelism, youth work, and the development of church institutions.

In his new role, Pastor Kajoba will oversee the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda, which continues to expand both in membership and in programs. The church runs schools, health facilities, and community projects that serve thousands of Ugandans. Its influence has grown steadily, with large numbers of people joining through evangelistic campaigns and outreach programs.

Pastor Moses Makka, the outgoing president, has been recognized for his leadership during his time in office. Under his guidance, the church strengthened its organizational structure and expanded its reach in different regions of Uganda. His departure opens a new chapter for the church, with members now looking to Pastor Kajoba to continue building on that foundation.

The SDA Church in Uganda is part of the East and Central Africa Division, which is one of the regions that make up the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Nairobi meetings brought together leaders from across the division to elect not only national leaders but also other officials responsible for various church departments.

In his first message after the election, Pastor Kajoba thanked the delegates and members for the confidence placed in him. He called on Adventists in Uganda to remain united, committed to mission, and focused on service. “This responsibility is not mine alone. It is for all of us who believe in the gospel and want to see the church grow in Uganda,” he said.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda has tens of thousands of members spread across the country. It continues to play an active role in promoting education, with many Adventist schools providing both academic learning and spiritual formation. Its hospitals and clinics contribute to healthcare, while its community programs support families and vulnerable groups.

With Pastor Kajoba as the new president, the church is expected to strengthen these initiatives while also adapting to new challenges, such as digital evangelism and the need to engage more young people in leadership and mission.

For many Adventists in Uganda, his election marks both continuity and renewal. They see in him a leader who understands the needs of the church and the country, and who is prepared to guide the institution into the future.
